Friday poll!

[Poll #1162254]

YAY Fridays! I think tonight I'm going to curl up with my laptop and watch either Xena or The L Word. I haven't decided which yet. That probably is a lame way to spend Friday night, but I don't care.

I couldn't choose between fiction and non-fiction. It'd be like choosing between two children! (OK, maybe not but I do love both)

ETA: Also, for comics I go here:

Seems like a lot of people had a hard time choosing between them. Although, interestingly, they've all voted fiction.

I go there to read comics too. He talks about a lot of comics I don't get in my paper, so I read both.

I really do love fiction and nonfiction equally -- it was wrong to have to choose! But I chose fiction. Even though right now I'm making my way through a 700-page nonfiction book.

What are you reading?

[identity profile] nam-jai.livejournal.com 2008-03-30 04:05 am (UTC)(link)
I'm reading The Whisperers: Private Life in Stalin's Russia by Orlando Figes. Not a cheerful read, obviously, but fascinating.

Hey, I'm spending Friday night knitting and watching Buffy. If it's lame, you have company in your lameness.

YAY! It's always good to have company in lameness. :)

I love non-fiction too, so that was kind of hard.

I was originally going to have a third option that said, "I'm not a reader." but I decided I would be sad if people picked it, so I didn't use it.

I have subscriptions to two comics services that deliver them by email to my inbox every day. I don't have a subscription to a newspaper BUT I HAVE COMICS. *g*

:) Reading the comics is one of my favorite things, so I'm glad you have a comics source.

I have a library card. But I have no idea where the hell it is. And at the library you just gotta say your name and whoever is there can pull it up on the computer. I worked there for a summer and no one ever brought in their card. Ever. They just said their name.

I haven't actually been in the library since the new librarian came around. She's a right cow, she is. They brought by some French books and she was like, "Pfft, no way." Uhh... I think it would have been great to have a French section. People do speak French around here. And what about people learning French? It would be real helpful. Anyways, I've also heard stories of accusing kids of stealing and hitting kids too.

Usually I'm a fiction gal (I love me some Tami Hoag murder mysteries), but more and more lately I've been reading non-fiction. I think now I have more non-fiction books than fiction.

And I would pick Vikings over Pirates and Ninjas any day.

I love my library card, but I haven't checked anything out from there in a while. I have stacks of books that I own that I should read first. I love the library system here because you can check out books online from any of the libraries in our system and they'll send them to your house for free. Then you can return them to any library and they'll send the books back to the correct ones. Plus no late fees. It's pretty freaking awesome.

Vikings are awesome. I didn't even think of them.

Pirate-ninjas FTW!

[identity profile] bubbles83.livejournal.com 2008-03-30 01:33 am (UTC)(link)
:) Indeed.

I am just not much for polarization, so I like the "almost" seasons. Spring is my favorite, genuinely, but it is tarnished by Summer. I HATE Summer. Too flipping hot. Autumn though has the benefit of being this relief after Summer.

Also, something completely random but tonight the girl I work for told me in the car that she was a Pink Tiger Pirate but her brother was JUST a Lion Pirate. It was so cute I actually melted a little.

[identity profile] bubbles83.livejournal.com 2008-03-30 01:35 am (UTC)(link)
I love Autumn. I love watching the leaves change and getting to pull out sweaters and sweatshirts again.

Aww. The kids you work for are so cute.

[identity profile] courtknee.livejournal.com 2008-03-29 06:43 am (UTC)(link)
I like both fiction and non-fiction, so that was tricky. Also, I have no preference in Pirates vs Ninjas as I hate them both because I am sick of hearing "WHO IS BETTER PIRATES OR NINJAS ZOMG".

but I used to like Ninjas better.

[identity profile] bubbles83.livejournal.com 2008-03-30 01:37 am (UTC)(link)
I think the reason the Pirates/Ninjas question seems so familiar to me is because everyone does it and I think it's become my default 'I don't know what else to do' question.
