So, what the heck am I supposed to do now?

I'm... not sure how I feel about it. I think I liked it. Right now I'm kind of... peaceful I think. It's finished. It's done. And I think I liked it. But 750 pages is a lot to take in at once, and I'm afraid if I think about it too hard, I'll hate it. So this will probably kind of bounce along everywhere and might not make much sense, but I'm writing things as they come to me.

She killed Fred and Remus and Tonks, and it's horribly upsetting. I don't think I can even count the number of times I started to cry or got teared up while I was reading. It's a little embarrassing to be honest, and I eventually closed the door to my room so no one would see me.

Neville saved the day with his awesome. I think that alone would have made me like the book. I don't even think I can describe the love I have for him. He started out as Neville, you know? Dorky, didn't have any confidence in himself, but then look how he ended up. He was running the DA. Sure, at first he had Luna and Ginny helping him, but then he was on his own. And he killed Nagini. Neville Longbottom destroyed the final horcrux with Gryffindor's sword. How hardcore awesome is that? His grandmother rocked pretty hard too.

Kreacher and Percy got redeemed and I love them both for it. I definitely cried when Percey showed up.

I kind of hope JK Rowling feels HORRIBLE over killing Dobby and Hedwig. Nothing like the death of a defenseless owl in the first 50 pages to get the ball rolling. THE BALL OF MY TEARS!

Molly Weasley fucking rocked it like a mofo! NOT MY DAUGHTER, YOU BITCH! Oh man. Lulz. Good times, Molly. Good times. You think the kids ever get together and say, "Remember that time Mom went ballistic on Bellatrix? Wasn't that fucking awesome?" I bet they do all the time.

I'm still upset about my dear Remus.

The Snape being in love with Lily forever and always was kind of lame, but I can live with it.

I loved the bit in Ravenclaw Tower. Not because that part was great or anything, but because the Tower itself was awesome. The knocker with the riddles to get in? Fantastic. You have to be clever to get into the Ravenclaw common room. None of this namby pamby password stuff. If you weren't smart enough to figure it out, then too bad. I'm not sure how you would keep out clever people from other houses though.

MALFOY NAMED HIS SON SCORPIUS! WAY TO CARRY ON THE TRADITION OF RIDICULOUS NAMES, DRACO "OBVIOUSLY A FAN OF FARSCAPE" MALFOY!

I think everyone could have predicted that Neville would become a herbology teacher. I just hope he had Babies Of Awesomeness with Luna.

The whole epilogue kind of seemed like fanfic to me, but whatever. Remus's son is a pimp and I think that's the only thing that matters.

I honestly don't know what I'm going to do now that it's all over. I hope Rowling decides she isn't done with this world after all. I really wouldn't mind a Mauraders book. Or Hogwarts, A History.

Uhm, was your book really 750 pages? Because mine was only just over 600.

[identity profile] bubbles83.livejournal.com 2007-07-22 05:55 am (UTC)(link)
Really? Mine was 759 pages. It's probably because the American version was printed in a bigger font. I know it's different from the British version, but I don't know about Canadian.

I hope so. I mean mine ended and all - had the nice little 19 years later and all.

Did you get the part where Remus admitted that he had been in love with Sirius for years and he felt like he was betraying him by loving Tonks, but Harry told him Sirius would want him to be happy?

Because that part was totally in my book.

[identity profile] smidgy06.livejournal.com 2007-07-22 06:04 am (UTC)(link)

Uhm, no.

Dammit!

I totally got that chapter in my copy. Actually, all three of them. Yeah, I bought three. I'm a freak like that.

SCORPIUS?!?! I was seriously like "ok, wtf, Draco?" I'm glad he lived though. :)

[identity profile] bubbles83.livejournal.com 2007-07-22 06:02 am (UTC)(link)
Yeah, I'm glad he lived too. And that he was on nodding terms with Ron and Harry.

Fred made me cry so hard. For some reason I always loved him more of the twins. Not that they were ever differentiated in the books, but eh. Maybe I like the name more?

Snape/Lily rocked my socks, even though the way it was written was kind of sad and weird. His entire life was depressing, and poor Snape got the worst of everything, so I was happy he had a little bit of happiness...even if it was just for a bit. Plus, I'm just a sucker for unrequited love.

Neville! SQUEE. I'm so happy he didn't die. SO happy. Harry, I didn't care so much about, but if Neville had died there would have been hell to pay. I loved his Grandmother at the end. She was too cute.

Um. Yeah. The epilogue. I'm going to pretend it doesn't exist, and I quite possibly tape it up after my family finishes reading the book.

And, I would kill for a Mauraders book. I think. Er, well, as long as it took place when they were at Hogwarts. I wouldn't want her to go into the first war...let that remain a mystery, but I'd like to see how James and Lily stopped hating each other.

Fred was my favorite too. I have no idea why.

If Neville had died, I might not have ever read the book again. I'm so glad he lived, and I'm so glad he got to be fantastic.

I don't even want some seven book series with the Mauraders. One book would work for me. I just want to see the boys and Lily while they're at school.

Teddy Lupin is OBVIOUSLY made of AWESOME. And somewhere Sirius must have left an illigitimate son so they can HAVE WILD GAY SEX in their parents name.

NO REALLY.

Is it obvious I AM DISTRAUGHT with JK killing REMUS AND SIRIUS!?!?!?! I will NEVER get over Sirius' death. Sigh.

And I sobbed like a baby...and then I read Scorpius and had Farscape flashbacks. And then all was well.

[identity profile] bubbles83.livejournal.com 2007-07-22 09:34 pm (UTC)(link)
Teddy Lupin would have to be awesome. He's the son of Remus and Tonks. The only way he could have been awesomer is if he had been the son of Remus and Sirius.

Obviously, Scorpius isn't really half-Sebacean half-Scarran, he's just the son of Draco Malfoy. Farscape suddenly makes so much more sense. :)

I have so much Neville love. *nods* And I agree with almost everything you said, except the Percy...I kinda thought that wa sa bit 'oh, wait, what shall I do about Percy? Fuck it, let's just have him turn up.' There could have been more to it, maybe. *shrugs*
