Barrowman-palooza [YouTube Thursday]

Longest. Day. Ever. I went to Borders this morning with my mom and from there she dropped me off at work. An hour early. So I went shopping and got myself a new pair of work shoes. And work lasted FOREVER! I worked down in one of the clothing departments today, and I HATE working downstairs. Fitting rooms are HORRIBLE. Then my sister was supposed to pick me up, but she forgot, so I didn't get picked up until 45 minutes after I got off. UGH! Luckily I made it home in time for Supernatural. I taped Smallville and I'll watch that with my mom tomorrow.

And now, as promised, an ALL BARROWMAN YouTube Thursday.

First up is one of my favorite music videos EVAR! OMG, it's the cheesiest most ridiculous thing to have ever existed. My favorite part is towards the end, when it looks like John is singing the song to himself.

Bwah! You mean the part where it inexplicably cuts back and forth between John On Stage and John in Jeans in front of a giant nautilus shell? Awesome. LOVE.

I thought I was going to die the first time I saw John reading the bedtime stories.

That video, on top of being completely loltastic and ridonculous, is interesting. I was listening to the album yesterday and was reminded of this about Barrowman - he's in no way a pop singer. He's a vry srs bizness musical theater performer always. The way he never really strays from the charted melody, the little move he does where he cuts off the (hot female?) string orchestra while cutting off his own note, the way he rarely moves or dances apart from the end where those moves look very practiced. In other words, he does what's scripted. Which isn't really a positive thing for a pop singer, but Barrowman's not a pop singer. Not by nature. And that's interesting. The other thing I find interesting is that all this makes him seem very professional. And that just doesn't seem like the Jack Harkness we know at all!

Wow, those are a lot of words about a Barrowman doing Air Supply video. Granted, I once wrote 1000 words on a White Stripes video that was just one continuous, steady shot of Jack sitting down playing the guitar while Meg slept next to him.

Here's the Torchwood DVD extra where Barrowman does Cole Porter. Always a fun one -

One more contribution to the cause

Barrowman doing some song from some musical. I dunno. But, chippers be damned, it's the only song I've ever heard that ever made me go "Yeah, that's totally Doctor/Rose."

I've never heard John singing but after seeing that vid he sounds really good! I'm tempted to hear more.

Yeah, John! I'm sure one more vid won't be a bad thing. John Barrowman with Ruthie Henshall, 'Anything you can do':
