S3 of Doctor Who starts airing on Sci-Fi on Friday. Which is very exciting. I haven't watched Runaway Bride since it aired. YAY DONNA! And Smith and Jones is on. YAY MARTHA!

Of course, this means that the recaps will be back up on TWOP. Presumably with Jacob as the recapper. Which means I can spend oodles of time banging my head against my desk as I read the horrific things. I can't NOT read them. It's like a sickness. Or badfic. You just have to see what shit he's going to say next.

Should I be weird and watch S3 on TV WHILE I'm trying to catch up on S1 and S2? Would that not work very well? I have already seen the last three eps of S3 (because JACK!) so I'm kind of spoiled already.

you should try watching each episode from each season around the same time.

as in series 1 episode one and series 2 episode one and series 3 episode one at the same time, then series 1 epsiode two, series 2 episode 2, series 3 episode two... etc.

that'd be trippy. :)

and i bet eps. 12 and 13 will feel the same across the series in some ways.

Dude no, TWOP in their continuing efforts to both sell out and suck ass just put Doctor Who on Permanent Hiatus, no more recaps. The forums are of course losing their goddamn minds.

So, the show was PHed, but the forums are going to stay? Or that's what I got from the quick two second browse I did of the forum. I'm... I'm a little sad. I HATE Jacob, but I kind of look forward to his nonsense.

I stopped really reading his full recaps a while ago because clearly he is INSANE, but yeah sometime he amused me. I still think it's kinda bullshit, most of the shows they recap now I dont even like and I'm still not cool with the Bravo buyout.

Heh. I get where you're coming from, even though I finally gave it up by mid-S2. Setting aside the assumption that TwoP recaps are supposed to be funny, not philosophical meanderings, I'm normally all up for philosophical meanderings about my fandom obsessions -- as long as they make sense. And I kept waiting for the recaps to get to a point (what the hell about grace, for God's sake?) and until I realized that they never, ever would. It was just someone far too in love with his own Deep Thoughts to bother clearly communicating them to the reader.

Once I accepted that, I kept reading for a while in a train-wreck, I-like-being-irritated kind of way, until I gradually kicked the habit.

Now the comment above about it being dropped is interesting. It's hard not to see it as somehow part of a conspiracy theory. I hated the recaps and I don't know how dropping them would benefit Bravo, but there must be something dodgy about it, I'm sure!

Yeah. Jacob is... well, Jacob. He does a few other recaps for shows I watch, and they're ALL LIKE THAT. But I just can't stop. They're like bad crack or something.

I'm confused (don't say it), but why would they drop it? It's still on the air, and they review ALL shows from ALL networks don't they?

They usually PH shows because they don't get enough hits. I can't imagine that'd be the case with DW, but I don't know why else they'd do it.
