This weeks Fannish 5 was depressing.
Aug. 4th, 2007 11:09 pmDoes anyone want to come to Vancouver and play Harry Potter Scene It with me? No one in my family will play it with me. Also, someone lost the DVD to my TV Scene It. Grrr.
fannish5: What five character deaths affected you the most?
1. Sirius Black (HP) - I'm still not not over Death By Drapery. He was Sirius Black. And for as much as I'm a multishipper, I was hardcore into Remus/Sirius. All I wanted was for him to be happy. To have a family. Freaking Bellatrix. Freaking Rowling. Not my Sirius, you bitch! (plz to be noting, I don't really hate JK Rowling)
2. Wash (Firefly/Serenity) - I'd accidentally seen some spoilers, so I knew this one was coming, and it was still shocking to see it. Wash was my favorite character. He was dorky and sarcastic. He loved his wife. He played with dinosaurs on the bridge. How can you not love Wash? And he was cruelly ripped away from us. I still have a hard time watching it.
3. Angel (Buffy) - I was 15, and I thought Buffy/Angel was the greatest thing EVAR. And I might have had a GIANT crush on David Boreanaz at the time (at the time? How about now?) He got his soul back, but Buffy knew she had to send him to hell anyway. It was very hard for me to accept that he was gone. Of course he came back, and I got over it, but at the time... Oh man. I was a mess.
4. Jack Bristow (Alias) - They killed SpyDaddy! He was my favorite character on a show full of characters that I loved. The only reason that I'm not still sobbing over it is because it's Alias, and if there's any show where I can pretend a death didn't happen, it's that one.
5. Jadzia Dax (DS9) - Jadzia was my absolute favorite character on Deep Space Nine. (I think I say that about all the characters, but I really mean it this time) She was smart and funny and tough. And Ezri just never lived up to Jadzia. I think if they ever did some sort of Trill show, it'd would be kind of like Doctor Who. Your first one will always be your favorite. (okay, not true in all cases as Nine isn't my favorite Doctor, but still) I even watched Becker because Terry Ferrell was in it. That's love, people. (According to IMDB, she's married to Brian Baker. AKA the Sprint Guy. I didn't know that)
Honorable mentions to: Remus Lupin (HP), Master Robinton (the Pern books), Leo McGarry (West Wing), Trip Tucker (Enterprise), Tara Maclay (Buffy), and Doyle (Angel)

Date: 2007-08-05 06:28 am (UTC)I think Buffy's reaction to Angel's death got to me more than Angel's death. I think, it's been a long while since I originally saw it.
David Boreanaz keeps getting better and better looking with age and while I think Angelus is the SEXIEST David's ever been Angel is by far the hottest and Booth is a very close second.

Date: 2007-08-05 06:53 am (UTC)In that case, we will rent a minivan with a DVD player, and play Scene It on our roadtrip to Vancouver, BC, where we will stalk the casts of about fifteen different shows.
I'll bring the pineapple.

Date: 2007-08-05 07:11 am (UTC)Sirius's death didn't affect me much in the books. I cried a bit during the movie.
But the Sirius part that always gets me the worst is the end of PoA. Oh god. There's those few fleeting moments where you think Sirius will be freed and Harry is going to be able to go off and live with someone who loves him even though that can possibly ever happen and it's so wonderful and by the end of the book, it's been ripped away. That's just the absolutely worst for me.
And Dax! Man. That was just terrible. Her death was so sad. I never really liked Ezri, either. Dax was totally the coolest character on DS9. As far as Trek goes, though, I considered putting Spock on my list, but I decided that no one who comes back to life is allowed.
Worst main cast Star Trek death? Tasha Yar. WTF, seriously. MOST POINTLESS DEATH EVER.

Date: 2007-08-05 05:34 pm (UTC)And then they went and made it worse by killing my favorite character on that incarnation. Bastards. I'm so glad that Berman isn't involved in the next movie.

Date: 2007-08-05 05:19 pm (UTC)The end of POA is horrible. I was so depressed for everyone in that book.

Date: 2007-08-05 08:33 pm (UTC)1. I'm a complete S/R shipper, and was devasted that Sirius never came back. I thought for sure that a little ole thing like a curtain of death couldn't possibly stop him!
2. On my first viewing of the show I didn't care one way or the other for Wash's character but having seen the show since I do have a soft spot for him and was very distressed that he was so swiftly torn away in Serenity.
