Colm Meany is going to be in the US Life On Mars.

I don't understand the need we have here to Americanize all these great British shows (although The Office US is excellent)(and are we really Americanizing it if all the actors are British?), but I think that is an excellent casting choice.

I really need to get around to watching the second season.

Please tell me he is not Sam Tyler.

And why can't we just show the BBC version of Life on Mars? It's so fucking awesome.

No, Sam is going to be played by Jason O'Mara (I think that's his name). Colm is going to be Gene Hunt. While I'd prefer the BBC version, I think that bit of casting is pretty good.

Hmm. I am uncertain if I can accept him as Gene Hunt. I can see it, but I'm so used to the other one.

At least I think that they could do a respectable job of LoM.

But this whole Viva Laughlin thing...no. Just no. Blackpool was awesome, and just so British. They should have let it be.

OMG, is that what Viva Laughlin is supposed to be? I had no idea. I haven't gotten around to watching Blackpool yet. I have it, but dude, you should see how much stuff I have on here to watch.

Yeah, I'm used to the other one too, but if they had to remake it at least it's with an actor I like who I think can do a decent job of it.

Yay for Colm Meany. I am a sucker for most Star Trek actors.

And yeah, that's what Viva Laughlin is supposed to be. This guy is David Tennant's part (http://imdb.com/name/nm0935721/).

YOU SHOULD WATCH BLACKPOOL. If only for the Tennant tongue porn. I mean, it's totally worth it for the ice cream cone scene alone.

I have heard of the wonder of the tounge porn in Blackpool, but I want to finish LOM first. And I started Casanova the other day and need to watch the other two parts still.

Casanova is just straight out porn. Seriously, I'm pretty sure he shags like twenty women in that movie.

(I have Casanova on DVD.)

It is pretty much just porn. I was watching the first part on my computer and I had to put my headphones in. I was afraid my mom or someone would come up and want to know what the hell I was watching.

And to think, in Britain, it was played on BBC1 and BBC3.

My original plan was to avoid the American version like the plague, but damn if I don't have a soft spot in my heart for Colm Meany. I heart the Chief. He was also in the (meh) movie version of the sequel to Gone With the Wind. I think that's where I fell in love with him.

I wasn't going to watch it either, but I think they just talked me into it with Colm Meany. He's Colm Meany. I can't NOT watch him.

Colm Meany is fanFREAKINGtastic. And despite the fact that I LOATHE the idea of remaking LOM, I will watch anything with Colm in it.

See, I couldn't care less about Life on Mars, butt if Colm Meany's in the U.S. version? I am, sadly, there.

Dude, there is nothing wrong with watching a show just because Colm Meany is in it. He is awesome.

... why, Lord, why?

It's not as if the Americanisations are awful or anything, but it hurts the British part of my soul. *shakes fist* leave us our tiny cult triumphs, big networks!

I hear they want to do an american Vicar of Dibley. D:

That's not entirely true. The American Coupling was just painful. The US version of Red Dwarf never made it past the pilot. Men Behaving Badly was pretty bad as well. I get doing American versions of your gameshows, but I don't understand why we can't just have the Brit version of your regular shows over here.

It's not like you guys make British versions of Lost or Stargate or something. You watch the regular one. Why can't we? *pouts* I like British people.

OMG, an American version of Vicar of Dibley? Are you serious? Just give us Vicar of Dibley. It's not like it hasn't been on here before. I used to watch it all the time on PBS. *shakes head*

*sighs* I really don't understand why they can't show the UK version, though I suppose English seasons are much shorter and the execs want to milk the idea for all it's worth.

Yeah, it was on the long list of the shows being considered for production 2007/8 season. I don't even know if the pilot was made, or if it's been given an order for more episodes. I so hope not, because I just can't work out how they'd do it. There's nothing like the Cotswolds in the States.
