bubbles83: (DW - Ten/Astrid)

I quite liked it. Yes, there were some dodgy bits. Like lets kill off the black man, the different looking alien, and the fat woman all with in ten minutes(not that this is just a problem with Who, and it pisses me off in EVERYTHING I watch). And the lack of explicit Martha mentions(beyond "there used to be someone" which was RTD probably thought was vauge enough to please everyone, but probably didn't), but I found it quite enjoyable.

There were EXPLOSIONS! I'm easy for EXPLOSIONS! And I liked Astrid. And she kissed him(she stood on a box! I don't know why that pleases me, but it does) and he kissed her and there was angsting! It wasn't Reinette levels of angst, but it was good.

I LOVED Mr. Cooper. I thought he was awesome. He'd have made a fantastic companion. Why you gotta hate on old men, Ten? Actually, that scene would have been a great place for a Martha reference. "I have this friend, well, I say friend, I treated her like crap a lot of the time, but she's brilliant, I'm just an arse. Anyway, she'd probably help you out. Her name's Martha. Martha Jones." And he could tell Cooper where to find her. At first, she'd be all annoyed that the Doctor is just sending her aliens to look after, but she'd really like Mr. Cooper and then they'd start a detective agency and SOLVE CRIMES! AND SOMETIMES THEY'D HELP SARAH JANE AND LUKE REALLY LIKES MR. COOPER BECAUSE THEY BOTH FEEL SO OUT OF PLACE SOMETIMES AND IT WOULD BE WONDERFUL!

... I think that got away from me a bit.

I like that after all the fuss we I went through about The Stowaway that it was just Ten grinning at Astrid for 5 seconds. Good times guys.

So I think in the end, I liked it more than the Christmas Invasion, but less than The Runaway Bride.

And now I'm going to talk about the trailer, but I left some spoiler space in case you want to read one but not the other.

I think that's should be enough space.

DONNA! And running! And hand holding! AND SNOGGING! I SAW THAT DONNA NOBLE!

Ten, just popping up over what I'm hoping is Donna's cubicle! HEART!

I can't decide if "I just want a mate" "You aren't mating with me, sunshine" makes up for "Being with you, I can't tell what's right and what's wrong anymore" "It's better that way" Because HOLY FUCK DOCTOR! I hope that comes to bite you in the ass, or Donna slaps you or something, you hubristic cockwaffle.

MARTHA! I SAW MARTHA AND IT MADE ME SO HAPPY!

AND SONTARANS! I SAW THEM!

I didn't realize how much squee I still had left for series 4. I thought most of it had been squashed down. This is good to know.

The box was just so damn cute. I really hate this "all companions must fall for the Doctor" thing, but that was just adorable.

Alonzo Frame! I liked him too. I think he would have been an excellent companion.

I was mostly kidding about Ten hating on Mr. Copper(I FAIL AT NAMES!). I did like him, but I don't know if it's a lifestyle really suited to older gentlemen. Although he did seem to keep up pretty well on the Titanic, so who knows. (He should go find someone nice and have a snog, though. He deserves it.) (And if someone did decide to write a fic about Copper and Jones Detective Agency I wouldn't cry.)

OH RIGHT.

Of course his name was Alonso. HOW COULD I FORGET THAT?

I don't even know if Astrid really fell for the Doctor if she'd stayed with him awhile. She's older and a bit more sensible than anyone else we've seen the Doctor with. It seemed more like she was caught up in the adventure. I actually think that if anything the Doctor fell more for her...

Mr. Copper should buy a house on the street where Sarah lives. :D
