bubbles83: (DW - Doctor & Martha)

Hey! Sorry I haven't been around much lately. I went and house sat for my Uncle for a few days, so I wasn't really on the computer, and I spent most of the day yesterday on the Wii. I made Doctor and Martha Miis! And they are adorable. I would show them to you, but they're on my TV, and I couldn't get a good picture of them. I am pretty bad at most of the games. Except this cow racing game. I rock at that one.

So, Caity's birthday is coming up and I was going to get her a book, but I don't know what I should get. What sort of books did you read when you were in the 4th grade? I liked the Little House on the Prairie books when I was that age, but she has no interest in them. She really loves Sarah, Plain and Tall, but my mom is already getting her the other books in that series.

We have spent far too much time Wii-ing here these days as well! Yesterday my kids were making Spike and Brock Miis (Buffy and Pokemon respectively).

As for books, I am trying to remember what the girls read at that age. I loved the Great Brain books (John D. Fitzgerald -I hope that's the correct spelling). Daughter One suggests Little Princess and Daughter Two suggests the Pixie books, but we can't remember who those were by. They also loved the Sachar books at that age (Sideways stories from Wayside school).

There was also much love of manga in our house (Ranma 1/2 might be a bit mature, but OMG my girls loved it)

I could just keep going, I am sorry. I will stop now. Good luck.

Hee. Your kids are awesome.

I've never heard of the Great Brain books, but I googled it, and they sound interesting. I'm headed to the bookstore tomorrow, so I'll check them out.

Little Princess is a good choice too. I haven't read that in ages, and I don't think we own it anymore. I thought about getting her some of the Wayside books when I was at the little mall bookstore today, but she already has a bunch of them, and I can never remember which ones she owns.

I would totally be down with getting her manga, but I don't really think she'd like it very much.

Thank you for the ideas. It really helps a lot.
