So, I'm getting some stuff on Amazon and I need about $8 more to get free shipping. I thought I'd pick up a Doctor Who book, but I was wondering which ones you guys liked. I'd like a Martha book (unless the Donna ones are out, but I don't think they are yet). And I've already read Wetworld and The Last Dodo.

It's freaking windy outside.
Jan. 4th, 2008 04:44 pmWent shopping today. I ended up getting Caity a boxset that has A Little Princess, The Secret Garden, and Anne of Green Gables in it. It even comes with a little locket. I don't know if she'll have any interest in them, but they're books I enjoyed, so she damn well better think they're fantastic! And I got her The Secret School by Avi. Sitting right next to that book was The True Confessions of Charlotte Doyle, which was one of my favorite books, but my mom made me get rid of it when we moved to Vancouver, so I picked that up for myself, and maybe if she's nice to me, I'll let Caity read it. I also picked up a couple of Doctor Who books. Wetworld, which I heard was good. And Independence Day, a Seven and Ace novel. For all I know it could be total shit, but it's Seven and Ace, so I bought it.

I have a sickness. I am physically incapable of going into a bookstore and not buying anything. I went to Barnes and Noble with my mom and sisters because Caity was doing this book thing where if she read 8 books she got 1 for free. I wasn't planning on buying anything, but the books were just there. And then they were in my hand and then I was buying them. I'm not sure how it happened. Anyway, I managed to pick up Twilight by Stephanie Meyer (now my flist can leave me alone ;)), a Doctor Who book The Last Dodo by Jaqueline Rayner (Martha!), The first volume of The Sandman (I'm not sure why I don't own these already. I remember borrowing the first couple from a friend, but then I moved and never finished the series), and The Areas of my Expertise by one Mr. John Hodgman (I was quite pleased that the first page I turned to had a Doctor Who picture on it). I feel kind of guilty. I really shouldn't be spending my money on books, but they're all shiny and new and smell so booky. I couldn't resist.
Please to be noting that it is kind of embarrassing if you are looking at Doctor Who books and your phone goes off when your phone makes TARDIS noises.
My sister just came in my room and found me listening to her Panic! At the Disco CD. Then I had to admit I also stole her Fall Out Boy CD. *shakes fist* Damn you bandslash! I feel shame. But not that much.
Aww. Neil Patrick Harris is on Jeopardy right now... He WON! YAY NEIL!

Jun. 9th, 2007 09:54 pmListening to The Stone Rose after watching Blink is kind of funny. Also, I never fail to be amused by David Tennant's impressions of everyone.
The best Doctor Who macro EVER.

The best Doctor Who macro EVER.
I just got back from the mall. And it was fantastic. I got myself some cute earrings from Claire's (shut up), but that isn't the fantastic part. No. The fantastic part is that the library was having a book sale. I bought The Hobbit because our copy is really old and the cover is just taped on. I thought it was time for a newer copy. And I've never read Sense and Sensibility so I picked that up as well. I've read Dreamcatcher by Stephen King, but I don't own it, and you can't usually get hardback books for a dollar so I grabbed that as well.
Those aren't the best things though. Oh, no. They were selling trashy harlequin novels for a quarter each, so I bought 4 of them. The Sicilian's Bought Bride, The Sheikh's Captive Bride, Pregnant by the Greek Tycoon, and The Frenchman's Captive Wife. I'm sure they'll all be fantastic. I'm also sure I'm going to be mentally inserting John and Rodney into all of them. Because that's how I roll. I figure they'll be fun to read when I'm down in Mexico.
Still, those aren't the best part either. They're pretty awesome, yes, but the most wonderful thing is the choose your own adventure book I found. But it's not just any choose your own adventure. It's a Magnum P.I. one. Maui Mystery #1. Complete with Tom Sellek in little shorts on the cover. Now, can you think of anything more fantastic than that? Other than Spock, Messhiah!, of course.
And I got all of that for $5.50. I think any day when you can get 9 books for that little money is a good one.
Now I'm going to see if Ben Affleck made a fool of himself on Hardball.

Was anyone else annoyed by the lack of caps in the questions? I was, but I was also to lazy to change it, so maybe I shouldn't complain.

What are the five coolest gadgets, in any fandom?
1. Shoe phone (Get smart) - When I was a kid I loved Get Smart. I thought the shoe phone was the coolest thing ever.
2. Sonic Screwdriver (Doctor Who) - "Have you never been bored? Never had a long night? Never had a lot of cabinets to put up?"
3. Magic Wand (Harry Potter) - Few things are cooler than an actual magic wand.
4. Puddlejumper (SGA) - They might be like Winnebagos in space, they might not even actually count as a gadget, but they are pretty damn cool.
5. Holodeck (Star Trek) - Again, I don't know if it counts as a gadget, but the holodeck is one of the coolest things EVER.
PS: Is it just me or does Chris Matthews have the worst laugh ever? It's horrifying
ETA: HEE! Not two seconds after I posted this, Keith did a whole montage of the laugh. We are obviously soulmates.

Mar. 6th, 2007 10:33 amAmazon told me on Saturday that my Atlantis DVDs were shipping, so hopefully they'll be here today. I can't wait! Duet! Trinity! Aurora! GRACE UNDER PRESSURE! Inferno! NAKED GREY ALIEN! Oh man. I might go crazy before the mail arrives. If it's not there I might have to choke a bitch. Not that I'm excited or anything.
In other news, Reliquary came the other day (Leave me alone, I needed something to bump up a different order to free shipping and I thought, what the hell). I'm only about two pages into it but Rodney is being bitchy and John is snarky, so it wins so far.

To read makes our english speaking good.
Jul. 17th, 2006 10:22 amThe B. Daltons in the mall is closing, so they are having a clearance sale. I mangaged to restrain myself to only getting five books. I'll probably go back in a couple of weeks to see if the prices have gone down anymore and pick up more then. :)
Anyway. I ended up getting American Gods and Neverwhere by Neil Gaiman, Diary by Chuck Palahniuk, and Dragonsdawn and Dragon's Kin by Anne McCaffrey. I still have a stack of about five Greg Iles books my mom wants me to read before I start these, but I love having books to read, so I don't really care. :)
And since I haven't used my Sawyer icon in a while, here you go. Don't get the song stuck in your heads! ;)
