Apparently, my dad's boss is giving our family a trip to Mexico. In December we'll go down to Puerto Vallarta for five days. If my dad isn't making the whole thing up. Which, you know, is possible. My dad does stuff like that sometimes. It could be fun. It could also be an unmitigated disaster. You never can tell with my family.
I really want to go see PotC 3, but my mom is busy and we can't. I could go with my brother tonight (well, probably not since we don't have tickets yet), but I'd feel bad seeing it without her. We saw the first and second ones together, it's one of our things.
It wasn't as awesome as I'd hoped it would be, but I still enjoyed it. It didn't have anything to do with Martha, who was awesome, but... well I'm not really sure what it was. I like Joan, I liked the creepy scarecrows, I liked that psychic kid who is from Love Actually. I think it was the lack of the Doctor. I mean, obviously he was on it, but he wasn't him, and I enjoy Ten, so I wish I had gotten Ten. Instead, I got the dude that let's a little kid get beaten. Accurate for the time? Probably. But still.
I liked the shippy bits. The Doctor trusts Martha implicitly. He trusts her to know what to do, and to know when to open the watch. I mean hell, he trusts her with the watch. He said thank you to her and gave her that wonderful smile. Obviously, They Are In No Way Doing It.
I'm sure I'll enjoy it more upon rewatching it. Also, other people's squee usually makes me go, "Yeah, that was awesome." So maybe all is not lost yet. Tell me your favorite part so that I can test my theory and we can squee together. :)

Date: 2007-05-27 04:31 am (UTC)There was good acting in DS9 - hello, Avery Brooks and Armin Shimmerman (love them!). And TNG had Riker and Picard, who, bless their hearts, had to work with some crap writing a lot of the time, but did their best.
So, yes, I'm prone to hyperbole. But Martha done good tonight. Really really good. Better than she has. So yay!

Date: 2007-05-27 04:43 am (UTC)Martha did do well. She's a brilliant Doctor companion, and I think part of Doctor Who's charm is it being a bit off. So the occasional shoddy acting isn't necessarily even bad.
