OMG! I woke up this morning and someone had given me this! It's Jon and Stephen picketing and it is SO WONDERFUL. *hugs anonymous FOREVER* Go read it!

Wishlists!

bubbles83: (TCR - Jon and Stephen are love)
* Make a post (public, friendslocked, filtered...whatever you're comfortable with) to your LJ. The post should contain your list of 10 holiday wishes. The wishes can be anything at all, from simple and fandom-related ("I'd love a Snape/Hermione icon that's just for me") to medium ("I wish for _____on DVD") to really big ("All I want for Christmas is a new car/computer/house/TV.") The important thing is, make sure these wishes are things you really, truly want.

* If you wish for real life things (not stories or icons), make sure you include some sort of contact info in your post, whether it's your address or just your email address where Santa (or one of his elves) could get in touch with you.

* Also, make sure you post some version of these guidelines in your LJ so that the holiday joy will spread.

Surf around your friendslist (or friendsfriends, or just random journals) to see who has posted their list. And now here's the important part:

* If you see a wish you can grant, and it's in your heart to do so, make someone's wish come true. Sometimes someone's trash is another's treasure, and if you have a leather jacket you don't want or a gift certificate you won't use—or even know where you could get someone's dream purebred Basset Hound for free—do it.

* You needn't spend money on these wishes unless you want to. The point isn't to put people out, it's to provide everyone a chance to be someone else's holiday elf—to spread the joy. Gifts can be made anonymously or not—it's your call.

* There are no rules with this project, no guarantees, and no strings attached. Just...wish, and it might come true. Give, and you might receive. And you'll have the joy of knowing you made someone's holiday special.

My list )

I have a bunch of yours favorited, but I'd appreciate it if you could link me to them. I want to make sure I have them all. :)

I just remembered I had this picture I wanted to share with you. It's something I saw when I was in Eugene for GG's memorial service. I thought you guys might appreciate it as much as me.

You look quite fashionable. Apart from the mud. )

ACK! How is it already the second half of November? Where did the first half go? Anyway, if you want a Christmas/Hanukkah/Kwanza/Winter themed holdiay card, give me your address in this post. The comments are screened. If you aren't comfortable with that, you can email me. My address is in my user info.

Wait, WHAT? They're making a live action Dragonball movie? For serious? With James Marsters? WHAT? I would call shenanigans, but really, that shit is so cracky, I almost want it to be true.

Even though there is a live action Dragonball move. And really, why mess with perfection )
bubbles83: (DW - Martha Jones: Made of awesome)
I think the easiest way to do this is with numbers.

1. I went to Eugene over the weekend for GG's memorial service. It was nice. Small. Just family. My uncle read the eulogy and my dad got up to say a few words. Good closure for everyone. I liked getting to see my extended family. I don't get so see them very often, so while I would have liked it to have been over something not so sad, it was good to see them. I liked hearing everyone's memories of her. She was a pretty awesome lady.

2. I spent all day Monday on the couch watching BBCA On Demand. Despite the fact that I am not a car girl, I found Top Gear to be quite enjoyable. Probably due to my deep love for Jeremy Clarkson. They turned a car into a space shuttle(sort of), what's not to love about that? And their American Road Trip was hilarious and terrifying. OH, and there was Simon Pegg, being adorable and talking about how C3P0 is gay.

3. My new coat did not arrive today. But I did get my writer's strike bracelets. I have about 20 of them, so if you're in the Portland/Vancouver area and want one, let me know. It goes nicely with my Wriststrong bracelet.

4. My mom and I went to the theater today to see The Menagerie. It was fun to watch Star Trek on the big screen. They redid some of the special effects, and they looked really good, but you know.... they redid the special effects. The cheese is part of why I like it so much. My mom and I discussed the fact that Jeffrey Hunter looks so much like Ray Liotta that she's convinced it's his dad.

So that's pretty much my life for the last few days.

I'm going to assume that Variety is very confused. Otherwise I might kill JJ Abrams. It make a lot more sense to assume that the Variety writer is just a non-Trekkie who doesn't know about Spock, than to assume that JJ is going to throw canon completely out the window. Right? Dear God, please tell me I'm right. I just don't see him doing that.

[Poll #1085869]

As seen in [livejournal.com profile] mskatej's journal.

Name your top six TV shows right now before reading the questions.

1. SGA
2. DW
3. Supernatural
4. Smallville
5. Pushing Daisies
6. House

Onto the questions )
bubbles83: (WGA - New series of tubes)
This video gives a good explanation for why the writers are striking. Plus it has fun shiny graphs. You should check it out.

After you've done that you should go to [livejournal.com profile] wga_supporters. They have lots of information about how you can help and show your support.

A Moment's Grace
by Branwyn

It's a lovely Two and Martha fic set during the Year That Wasn't. And by lovely, I mean really really fantastic. It's exactly how I've imagined Two and Martha would be together.

Freema and David are so adorable together. How can you not love them?

I love Jon Stewart more than is healthy for me. ETA: This may not be true? Still doesn't change the fact that my love for Jon will never die. Let's be honest, he could eat a baby on camera and I would think it was adorable. mmmmm, babies....

This Married To The Sea made me laugh and cry at the same time

Also, I ordered a coat today. Regularly $150, I got it for $67! GO ME!
bubbles83: (DW - Ten/Jackie OTP)
I spent all day on OG and parts of it kind of made me want to stab people, but it did get me thinking and I has thoughts about Rose coming back... )

Just so you don't think I spend all my time thinking about Doctor Who (It's that or Stargate, let's be honest.), I also watched Armageddon. And cried the whole way through. Clearly being sick has made me a hormonal crazy person. I was going to watch The American President, but I forgot. *sadface*

PS: I AM VICTORIOUS! I've been trying to figure out how I knew Beardy Guy from the beginning of Thursday's Supernatural. He's from SG1. And a few other shows I watch, but I actually remember him on SG1.

EEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE!!!!!!!!!!! Photo that contains spoilers for Doctor Who S4.

Listen to me gush )

Silly Doctor Who meme )

Something not nearly as exciting as all that, I am sick. My little sisters came home from school because they had fevers, and now I have one. I've really not done anything except watch QI all day. There's something about Stephen Fry and Alan Davies that makes you feel not quite so bad. I was supposed to clean up my room, but I just havent' had the energy. It's really too bad, because my room REALLY needs it.
bubbles83: (SGA - glee)
My Fannish Love In is still going on. Go stop by and post something you love about fandom. It doesn't have to be long, just happy. So far it's mostly Supernatural love. Which isn't bad, the Winchesters are AWESOME, but don't you guys think some other fandoms deserve love? Go and play!

SGA: I forget the title )
bubbles83: (A Kiss)
There's been a lot of bad feelings going on in fandom lately, and I had a dream I did this (The other one was about President Rudy Guiliani and his GIANT ROBOTIC DEATH MONKEYS). I thought it was a nice idea, so I'm going to do it.

FANNISH LOVE IN

Everyone has something they love about fandom, otherwise we wouldn't be here. So here's your space to give a reason why.

Say why you love fandom in general or a specific fandom.
Give someone involved in fandom some love (if they aren't on my flist you might want to link them to it so they see it)
Post a bit of your favorite fic (plz to be giving credit to authors)
Talk about why Character X is so awesome or how Character Y/Character Z makes you so happy.
Whatever else pleases you!

But please keep it positive. There really isn't much bashing on my flist, so I doubt it will get negative, but if it does, I'll delete the comments.

If, for whatever reason, you don't feel comfortable posting with your LJ name, feel free to comment anon. IP logging is off.

My brother got his first speeding ticket today. For going NINETY MILES AN HOUR. Okay, first of all, I didn't know his little '89 Ford Tempo could go 90, so I'm a little impressed. Secondly, when my parents questioned him on it, he said he didn't know he was going 90, his speedometer only goes to up to 82. That's not exactly the best excuse. *shakes head* 90. That's is just stupid.

I'm not shocked he was speeding though. He's 17. He likes to drive fast. He knows better when he's with me. I start yelling at him to slow down if he starts going over 40. Even if he's on the freeway. My dad is having his cop friend come over and give him a talking to. He's only allowed to drive to school and work and if my mom needs him to run errands, but I think he's getting off easy. He easily could have killed himself or someone else.
